Lawley Toyota When Do I Need to Change the Oil on My Toyota?
Toyota vehicles have a number of recommendations when it comes to changing your oil. Some recommend longer periods between oil changes than others. However, in general, Toyotas require oil changes every 5,000 miles, or every six months, whichever comes first. This is standard for most vehicles. But in some cases vehicles have the option of a longer period between oil changes.
Toyota vehicles that use 0w-20 synthetic oil are able to enjoy extended oil change intervals of 10,000 miles, or roughly 12 months. However, to maintain optimal health for your car, it is still recommended that your vehicle is checked for an oil change every six months, or every 5,000 miles.
What Happens if I Don't Change My Oil Regularly?
If you leave oil inside your car for too long it can thicken and oxidize into a tar-like substance. And when you don't change your oil regularly, this sludge can eventually cause your engine to seize up, since your car’s oil won't be providing the engine with the necessary lubrication it needs. Once this happens, it can be extremely expensive and difficult to remove. The most important thing is that you ensure your Toyota vehicle is serviced regularly.
